A bare percentage doesn't tell you what to do next. Sentences that get flagged carry reason keywords naming the specific pattern behind the flag — even sentence rhythm, a generic transition, formulaic structure — so a result is something you can actually inspect and act on, not just react to.
AI writing leaves measurable statistical patterns, and ScribeLens is built to detect and surface exactly those patterns, sentence by sentence. What a result can never be is proof: detection is probabilistic evidence for a person to weigh, not a verdict to hide behind in either direction.
Most AI detectors punish disciplined academic prose, for two concrete reasons we investigated and fixed. Reference lists are the most formulaic text in any paper by construction, and detectors that score them read that rigidity as machine-like — ScribeLens excludes reference lists, in-text citation apparatus, DOI/ISSN lines, copyright and licence text, and declaration sections (Author Contributions, Funding, Ethics statements, and similar back-matter) automatically before scoring. Formal register — consistent structure, measured transitions, even sentence rhythm — is also exactly what detectors are trained to flag, so ScribeLens weighs sentence-level evidence against document-level style signals rather than convicting a paper on register alone.
Excluded content is still shown in the report for transparency; it just never affects the verdict.
We don't publish an accuracy percentage, because we haven't measured a formal accuracy rate — any detector that states one is telling you something it can't actually verify.
