ScribeLens

Check any web page for AI writing, without leaving it

The ScribeLens extension for Chrome checks text where you find it. Select a paragraph, right-click "Check with ScribeLens", and the result appears in a side panel next to the page, with the sentences behind it.

How it works

  1. Add ScribeLens AI Detector to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Select the text you want to check on any web page
  3. Right-click and choose "Check with ScribeLens", or click the ScribeLens button in the toolbar and paste the text
  4. Read the result in the side panel next to the page
  5. Click "View full report" to open the complete report on scribelensai.com

What the side panel shows

The panel uses the same detector and the same wording as the website, so a result reads the same wherever you check it.

Longer texts and full reports

The panel checks up to 2,000 words at a time, the same as a check on the website without an account. For longer text, click "Open on ScribeLens": the text opens on the website, where a free account checks the whole document in one scan.

"View full report" opens the complete report on scribelensai.com, with every sentence highlighted, without checking the text again. From there you can export it as a PDF or DOCX with a free account.

Your text stays private

The extension only reads the text you select, and only when you ask it to check. The text is sent to ScribeLens for analysis and the result comes back to the panel. The text itself is not stored; only its word count is recorded, for usage limits. The extension does not track the pages you visit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ScribeLens Chrome extension free?

Yes. Checks of up to 2,000 words in the side panel need no account. Longer text opens on scribelensai.com, where a free account gives you 35,000 words a month and 9 PDF or DOCX report exports.

Is it the same detector as the website?

Yes. The side panel uses the same detector and the same wording as scribelensai.com, and every result names the detector version that checked it.

What text can I check?

Any English text you can select on a web page: an article, a forum post, a submission in a learning platform. Some pages, such as Chrome's own settings pages and some online editors, do not let extensions read a selection. There, click the ScribeLens button in the toolbar and paste the text into the panel instead.

Which browsers does it work in?

It is published for Chrome on the Chrome Web Store. Other browsers are not listed yet; you can always check text on scribelensai.com in any browser.

Does the extension store what I read?

No. It only reads text you select when you ask it to check. The text is analysed and the result returned; the text itself is not stored, only its word count for usage limits.
